Danny Dyer Whips Out His BAFTA During Daughter Dani’s Wedding Speech

Danny Dyer made sure all eyes were on him – at least for a moment – during his daughter Dani Dyer’swedding to West Ham star Jarrod Bowen, by pulling out his BAFTA award in the middle of his father-of-the-bride speech.

The EastEnders and Human Traffic actor, who won his first BAFTA earlier this year for his unexpected comedic turn in Mr. Bigstuff, couldn’t resist adding a little showbiz sparkle to the special day.

“I didn’t think I’d win it,” Danny told The Telegraph. “To actually win it for a comedy performance, for Mr Bigstuff, which is me going into territory I’m not known for, I was just so happy.”

And what better way to celebrate than to bring the award along to his daughter’s wedding?

“Today’s Not About Me… But Here’s My BAFTA”

Danny recalled the moment he surprised guests by dramatically pulling the golden trophy from under the table during his speech.

“I said, ‘Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, today’s not about me, it’s about this wonderful couple.’

Then I go under the table and bring out my BAFTA. I thought: ‘Oh my God, is this narcissistic?’ But the cheer it got…”

Always the entertainer, Dyer used the moment to keep the crowd laughing — and he didn’t stop there.

“Bowen’s on Fire” Wedding Chant

True to his East London roots, Danny led the wedding guests in a customized version of the famous West Ham chant, saying:

“The speech was written for me really because I alluded to me being more in love with him than her.

Then I got us all to stand up and sing: ‘Bowen’s on fire and he’s married Dani Dyer.’”

“The Man of My Dreams”

The proud dad, 47, also gushed over his son-in-law, Jarrod Bowen, calling him the “man of my dreams.”

“You can’t choose who your kid falls in love with,” he said. “But I think for the first time in history I’m more in love with him than she is.”

Dani, 28, married Bowen in a private ceremony in May 2025, surrounded by family and friends — and clearly with her dad’s full approval.

An Emotional Year for Danny

The wedding capped off a whirlwind six months for Danny, who described the period as “incredibly emotional.”

He told Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden:

“I was in pieces. The best day of my life. I managed to give my daughter away to the man of my dreams… It was just beautiful.”

Looks like Danny Dyer had two major wins this year — one on stage, and one at the altar.
