The Nigerian Christian Youth Network (NCYN) has slammed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for meddling in the contractual dispute between gospel singer Mercy Chinwoand her former label boss, music producer EeZee Tee.
In a statement by its National Coordinator, Michael Ekwere, NCYN called on the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Christian leaders to intervene, warning that the issue could negatively impact the gospel music industry.
🚨 NCYN’s Key Concerns:
🔹 The dispute is purely contractual and should be handled in a civil court, not by the EFCC.
🔹 The EFCC allegedly froze EeZee Tee’s domiciliary account without a court order and detained him for nine days.
🔹 EeZee Tee was reportedly pressured to pay Mercy Chinwo $274,000 while in detention.
🔹 The EFCC later filed charges of ‘fraudulent conversion’ against him over Mercy Chinwo and Judikay’s earnings.
⚖ NCYN Demands:
🔹 The EFCC chairman must ensure the commission focuses on its real mandate, not private disputes.
🔹 The Attorney General should review the case and prevent EFCC from being used for intimidation.
🔹 The PFN and Christian leaders should mediate and resolve the conflict within the Christian community.
The EFCC has yet to respond to these allegations.
