Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to London Nightclub Attack

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray in connection with a 2023 attack on a music producer at a London nightclub, prosecutors confirmed Friday. The 37-year-old singer and his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, entered the plea at Southwark Crown Court, admitting they “used or threatened unlawful violence” at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023.

Prosecutors said CCTV footage captured Brown hitting Abraham Diaw twice over the head with a glass bottle, with Akinlolu joining in to punch and kick the victim as he tried to flee. The victim suffered head and knee injuries requiring hospital treatment. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped more serious charges against Brown, including attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, assault causing actual bodily harm, and possessing an offensive weapon.

Brown had been free on £5 million bail since his arrest in May 2025, which allowed him to tour last summer in Europe and North America. He was released on bail again on Friday and will face sentencing on October 26, where he could face up to three years in prison. “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack,” Crown Prosecution Service senior prosecutor Claire Campbell said, adding that “no one is above the law.”
