Childish Gambino, the Grammy-winning artist also known as Donald Glover, has canceled his 2025 concert dates in Australia and New Zealand due to ongoing health challenges. The 41-year-old artist, who has been recovering from an undisclosed illness since October, shared the difficult news with fans on Friday, expressing his regret and gratitude for their support.
Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected
Gambino explained.
The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are canceled. One of the last things I’d ever want to do is disappoint my fans.
The tour was set to take place in February 2025, with scheduled performances in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth. Ticketek has confirmed that fans will receive full refunds. Gambino last performed in Australia in 2019 and had planned to showcase music from his reissued album Atavista, which features new tracks and collaborations with artists like Ariana Grande and 21 Savage.
This cancellation follows his earlier decision to abandon the remainder of his New World Tour, including planned dates in the US, UK, and Europe, after being hospitalized in October. Gambino revealed he underwent medical assessments and has a surgery scheduled as part of his recovery process.
My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously
he shared last month.
I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for the love, privacy, and support.
Fans worldwide have expressed their concern and understanding, sending well wishes as the artist focuses on his health. While this may be a pause in his musical journey, Gambino’s impact and artistry continue to resonate deeply with his audience.
