Cardi B Wins BET Award, Debates Diss Track Live on Stage

Cardi B descended from the rafters of the Peacock Theater on a lit-up sports bike, crimson hair blazing, and the crowd lost its mind. The Bronx superstar was not just accepting an award tonight. She was making a statement. Leading the BET Awards with six nominations, she took home Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for her album Am I the Drama? and delivered a performance that had social media buzzing for hours.

“I overcame my fear, my anxiety, and I put it out,” Cardi said, accepting the trophy. “Three babies later, I put the album out, honey.” The raw emotion was palpable. But the real fireworks came during her medley of hits, which included the live debut of “Pretty & Petty” alongside backup dancers and a stripper pole.

The track is Cardi’s response to Boston rapper BIA. Their feud ignited in 2024 over a Missy Elliott sample, but BIA escalated things with “SUE MEEE?”, a diss track that took personal shots at Cardi’s marriage and children. Cardi retaliated on Am I the Drama? with lyrics directly calling out BIA.

Despite performing the diss track on television for the first time, Cardi is urging her fans to stay civil. She wants to keep things positive and is asking supporters not to engage in online bullying against BIA. Her message is clear: the track is for the stage, not for warfare.
