The BRIT Awards 2025 is giving music fans more power than ever! For the first time in the award show’s history, winners in five major categories will be decided entirely by fan votes—cast through a dedicated BRITs WhatsApp chat.
The categories up for public voting are Alternative/Rock Act, Dance Act, Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Pop Act, and R&B Act. Voting officially kicks off today, January 31, and runs until February 14 at 11:59 PM. Fans can vote once per day in each category, making it a daily battle for the top spot.
The competition is fierce, with legendary rock band The Cure landing their first BRIT nomination in over 30 years. They’ll be up against Sam Fender, Beabadoobee, Ezra Collective, and The Last Dinner Party in the Alternative/Rock Act category. Charli XCX, who leads this year’s nominations with five nods, will be competing in multiple categories, including Dance Act and Pop Act, where she faces off against heavyweights like Dua Lipa.
The Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act category sees Stormzy, Central Cee, Dave, Ghetts, and Little Simz battling it out, while RAYE, Cleo Sol, FLO, Jorja Smith, and Michael Kiwanuka are in the running for R&B Act.
Fans eager to cast their votes can start a WhatsApp chat and follow the prompts to support their favorite artists. The BRITs’ partnership with Meta also ensures wider engagement, using Instagram Reels to amplify nominees’ presence across global audiences.
Adding to the excitement, the first wave of performers has been announced, including JADE, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, The Last Dinner Party, and Myles Smith. More acts are expected to be revealed as the March 1 ceremony at The O2 in London approaches.
Jack Whitehall is set to return as host, marking his fifth time leading the prestigious event. Meanwhile, this year’s BRIT trophy, designed by British-Nigerian artist Gabriel Moses, promises to be a collector’s gem, following his high-profile collaborations with Skepta, Little Simz, and Burberry.
With fan votes deciding key winners, BRIT Awards 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet. Let the voting wars begin!
