Brentford have confirmed the signing of Jordan Henderson from Ajax, marking a major coup for the Premier League side ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The former Liverpool and England captain joins the Bees after a brief stint in the Eredivisie, where he signed for Ajax in January following his departure from Saudi club Al-Ettifaq.
A Big Addition for Brentford
The 34-year-old midfielder brings vast Premier League experience, having made over 400 appearances for Liverpool, where he lifted the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup during his captaincy.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank welcomed the signing, praising Henderson’s leadership and pedigree:

Henderson’s Career Comeback
Henderson’s move to Saudi Arabia in 2023 drew widespread criticism and lasted less than a year. After terminating his contract with Al-Ettifaq, he joined Ajax in a surprise January move in 2024. While his time in Amsterdam was short, it helped him regain fitness and form, contributing several key performances before the Dutch giants opted to let him move on.
Now, Henderson returns to England aiming to prove he still has what it takes to compete in the Premier League.
