Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the red carpet event on June 16, Pitt revealed that the new hairstyle was all for a role.
“I just finished a job. It’s for a character we did,” he explained.
Though he first debuted the new look during a promotional stop in Mexico City on June 9, the NYC premiere gave fans their clearest glimpse yet.

Pitt paired his buzz cut with a sleek navy double-breasted suit, crisp white button-up shirt, and a satin pocket square. He wasn’t alone at the premiere either—his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, joined him in a rare public appearance as a couple. De Ramon stunned in a sheer halter top and a long feathered skirt, accessorized with a white Chanel purse.
On Filming F1: “It’s Incredible”
In the upcoming film F1, Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a seasoned Formula 1 driver who returns to the racetrack nearly 30 years after retirement. Reflecting on the experience, Pitt was visibly moved.
“These tracks are just like hallowed ground,” he said. “Silverstone. Spa in Belgium was the most memorable. Abu Dhabi. We really got spoiled.”
He also shared the surreal feeling of transitioning from the adrenaline of high-speed racing scenes back to real-world driving.
“I can’t even describe it. Yeah, it’s incredible.”
