Bovi Reveals Why He Relocated His Kids Abroad

Popular comedian Bovi has disclosed that he relocated his family to the United Kingdom, citing concerns over Nigeria’s educational system and bullying culture.

Why He Moved His Kids

Speaking on the ‘Uncolored’ podcast, Bovi explained that his decision stemmed from the prevalence of bullying in Nigerian schools, which he believes has been normalized under the guise of senior students disciplining juniors.

“My kids don’t live in Nigeria anymore. They have been in the UK for two years now. It started by accident—my first son has been there since 2021 in boarding school. I went to boarding school in Nigeria, and it made me street-smart. But I didn’t want my kids to go through the same experience because the system here empowers students to bully others.”

Thoughts on Mass Migration

Bovi also addressed the ongoing “japa” wave, where many Nigerians are relocating abroad for better opportunities. While acknowledging that Nigeria hasn’t faced war or natural disasters, he pointed out that the country is losing professionals, particularly in the medical field.

“We lose 500 doctors yearly, but about 200 new ones graduate. It’s like using balm aid on a big wound. That’s why it hasn’t exploded in our faces yet.”

He emphasized that beyond better pay, working conditions abroad—such as stable power and necessary medical resources—make a significant difference.

“Patients have died in Nigeria because of a lack of blood or power failure during surgery. If you were a doctor, would you want to work under such conditions? The answer is no.”

A Growing Concern

Bovi’s remarks highlight the education crisis in Nigeria and the exodus of professionals seeking better lives abroad. His decision to relocate his kids mirrors the choices of many Nigerian parents who prioritize safer learning environments and better educational standards.

Do you think Nigeria’s educational system can improve, or will more people continue to leave?
