Bobbi Althoff reached out to Oliver Tree’s team for their blessing before publishing his final interview on “The Really Good Podcast”, and she got the green light. The episode dropped June 29, 15 days after Tree died in a helicopter crash in Brazil at age 32. It was released on what would have been his 33rd birthday.
In the interview, Tree, dressed in an Elmo costume with red face paint, made an eerie premonition about his own mortality. “We don’t know if I’ll be alive next year or you’ll be alive,” he told Althoff. “There’s no day promised”. He also described his “high-risk” lifestyle, mentioning he’d spent the last two years living in “poo huts in Africa” and mud houses in Iraq.
Althoff announced that all revenue from the episode will go directly to Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant for Baby Geniuses, a foundation Tree established to support artists working in music, film, and performance art. It was a cause he championed before his death.
The podcast serves as both a farewell and a tribute, giving fans one final glimpse of Tree’s unique personality while supporting a cause created in his honor. His death on June 14 followed a São Paulo show on June 6, the last performance of his global tour.
