Nigerian singer and activist Bloody Civilian is facing a hefty N200 billion lawsuit over alleged defamatory comments made on social media. The legal action was taken by controversial preacher Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio and her daughter, Imaobong Elijah Ukpabio, following remarks made by Bloody Civilian in response to a tweet celebrating Ukpabio’s 60th birthday.

The lawsuit stems from Bloody Civilian’s tweets on November 22, 2024, where she accused Ukpabio of promoting harmful practices, including allegations of child abuse and a supposed UK travel ban. Among the controversial comments were accusations that Ukpabio “literally made people burn their children alive” and claims she had been banned from the UK due to her alleged activities.

Ukpabio’s legal team is demanding a public apology and a massive financial compensation of N200 billion for reputational damages. They argue that Bloody Civilian’s posts were reckless, defamatory, and harmful to Ukpabio’s image.

In response, Bloody Civilian reacted humorously on Twitter, making light of the lawsuit and joking about expanding her services to cover weddings, naming ceremonies, stand-up comedy, and even settling family disputes in an effort to raise the required compensation.
