Nigerian singer Blackface has opened up about his long-standing grievances over the hit song African Queen following shocking revelations from Kennis Music CEO, Kenny Ogungbe. Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Ogungbe disclosed that the song was registered under 2Baba’s name, leaving Blackface uncredited despite his contributions.

Blackface, a former member of the Plantashun Boiz group alongside 2Baba and Faze, has consistently alleged being sidelined in the song’s success since its release in 2004. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the singer poured out his frustration, claiming years of sabotage, exclusion, and injustice within the music industry.

Blackface Speaks Out

In an emotional post, Blackface expressed his pain over the alleged unauthorized registration of African Queen under 2Baba’s name, denying him rightful royalties and recognition.

“Guys, I am really emotional right now… What in the world took you guys so long to come out and clear the air that you falsely registered my song African Queenwithout my consent?” he wrote.

He further accused the industry of ostracizing him, spreading negative narratives, and discouraging potential collaborators. Blackface recounted instances of losing performance opportunities, being labeled difficult, and witnessing other artists use his melodies and lines without credit.

A “Sabotage Agenda”

Blackface described the events as part of a larger “sabotage agenda” to discredit him and diminish his influence in the industry. He shared an experience where he was allegedly shunned at an event due to rumors about him:

“I was once invited to a show in Olodi Apapa. On arrival, I went to the VIP section, and some persons cleared out, leaving me and my team on our own.”

Despite the challenges, Blackface vowed to keep the Plantashun Boiz legacy alive, hinting at plans to recruit new members and release fresh music for fans.

“Now Is the Time for Justice”

The singer emphasized the importance of honesty and accountability in the industry, calling for justice and a renewed appreciation for his contributions.

“Without me, they won’t have any hits, as many won’t have where to copy from. Now is that time for justice,” he declared.

Blackface’s outburst comes as Kenny Ogungbe’s revelations reignite discussions about credit, royalties, and fairness within the Nigerian music industry. While 2Baba has yet to respond to these renewed allegations, fans are watching closely as the saga unfolds.
