Nollywood actress and model Beverly Osu is setting the record straight on a long-standing controversy that trailed her since her Big Brother Africa appearance in 2013. In a candid sit-down with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Beverly addressed the scandal involving her relationship with South African dancer Angelo Collins, insisting that contrary to popular belief, no sexual activity occurred between them during their time on the reality show.
Reflecting on the experience, Beverly—who was just 20 years old at the time—revealed that love, not lust, was the driving force behind her closeness to Angelo. “I was madly in love with Angelo,” she confessed. “That’s why I felt free around him. I was dating—make we tie gele? I was in love with him.”
Despite her youthful innocence and genuine affection, the narrative spun by the media left a lasting stain on her career. “The biggest highlight was that I didn’t do it [have sex on the show],” she emphasized. “But that’s all people focused on.”
The media scrutiny and relentless rumors, according to Beverly, also played a pivotal role in the end of her relationship with Angelo. “Today, one paper will say Beverly is with this man, tomorrow, another paper will say something else. I don’t know,” she lamented.
Now a celebrated actress in Nollywood, Beverly says she’s learned to rise above the noise. “I have people who love me for who I am,” she said, choosing to focus on her growth and the lessons learned from both fame and heartbreak.
As she reclaims her narrative, Beverly Osu is reminding everyone that her journey is bigger than a scandal—it’s about resilience, love, and finding her voice despite the odds.
