Barcelona Owe Leeds United £10 Million If Raphinha Helps Deliver Champions League Glory

Barcelona could be cutting a £10 million cheque to Leeds United if they go on to win the UEFA Champions League this season—thanks to a clever clause in Raphinha’s 2022 transfer deal.

According to TEAMtalk, the clause in the Brazilian winger’s contract ties an additional payment to Champions League success, specifically if Raphinha plays a role in securing the prestigious title for the Catalan giants.

Raphinha joined Barça from Leeds United for a reported €58 million, but the English Championship side wisely negotiated performance-related add-ons—including a hefty £10 million (€12.5 million) bonus should he help Barcelona clinch European glory.

And now, with Barça 4-0 up in the first leg of their quarterfinal clash against Borussia Dortmund, that clause may just be triggered.

After a slow start at Camp Nou, the Brazilian winger has exploded this season, emerging as one of the most important figures in Barcelona’s campaign. With 12 goal contributions (goals + assists) in the Champions League alone and 50 goal involvements across all competitions (28 goals, 22 assists), Raphinha is also firmly in the conversation for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

If Barça continue this dominant form in Europe, not only could they reclaim continental supremacy—they could also cost themselves an extra £10 million. But for a shot at lifting the Champions League trophy, it’s a price they’ll gladly pay.
