RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško remains one of the hottest names in the summer transfer market, with Arsenal leading the chase for his signature. However, despite speculation of an imminent move, the player’s agent has moved to dismiss rumours that he’s pushing for a discount deal or applying pressure on Leipzig to lower their valuation.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Šeško’s agent Elvis Bašanović set the record straight, denying any attempts to strong-arm the Bundesliga club over their reported £60 million+ asking price.
“This is far from the truth!” Bašanović insisted.
“We respect RB Leipzig, and I am 100% convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it.”
Arsenal Agreement on Personal Terms — But No Deal Yet
Šeško is believed to have agreed personal terms with Arsenal, and the Gunners are eager to reinforce their front line ahead of the 2025/26 season. However, the deal is still far from completion, with Leipzig standing firm on their valuation after narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification.
Despite that, Bašanović emphasized that any transfer will be conducted with full respect for the German club and without conflict.
“Even if there may be—or will be—a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig,” he said.
“The way you exit a club reflects your values. Those are the values you take into a new club.”
Arsenal’s Perspective
Mikel Arteta is understood to be a big admirer of the 21-year-old Slovenian international, who has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Leipzig and impressed on the international stage with Slovenia ahead of Euro 2024.
With Gabriel Jesus struggling for fitness and Kai Havertz not a natural No. 9, Arsenal are in the market for a mobile, clinical centre-forward, and Šeško ticks many of those boxes. However, Leipzig are under no immediate pressure to sell, with Šeško contracted until 2028, giving them leverage in any negotiation.
What Next?
While Arsenal remain in pole position, other top European clubs are monitoring the situation. Bašanović’s comments suggest that while a transfer is possible this summer, it will not be rushed or forced.
“We do things the right way—or we don’t do them. It’s very simple,” the agent concluded.
For now, the ball is in Arsenal’s court — and whether they’re willing to meet Leipzig’s asking price could decide if Šeško becomes their marquee summer signing.
