Anne Hathaway’s much-anticipated thriller Verity has officially been pushed back. Originally slated for a May 15, 2026 release, the film will now hit cinemas on October 2, 2026, Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed.
The star-studded adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling psychological thriller also features Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, with Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, Spoiler Alert) directing.
What Verity Is About
Verity follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired to complete the final books in a bestselling series by the reclusive and medically incapacitated author Verity Crawford. As Lowen settles into Verity’s home to work through her notes, she stumbles upon a disturbing autobiographical manuscript—and uncovers shocking secrets involving Verity, her family, and the suspicious deaths of her twin daughters.
As the mystery deepens, Lowen finds herself entangled not only in Verity’s dark world, but also in a romantic connection with Verity’s husband, Jeremy.
Part of a Colleen Hoover Cinematic Universe?
The delay doesn’t seem to be slowing down the Colleen Hoover screen takeover. Following the success of It Ends With Us, several of her other novels are currently being adapted:
• Reminders of Him, starring Maika Monroe, directed by Vanessa Caswill, follows a woman returning from prison to reconnect with her daughter and falls for a man with close ties to her past.
• Regretting You will feature Allison Williams, Scott Eastwood, Dave Franco, Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, and Willa Fitzgerald, exploring grief, generational trauma, and young love.
The Hype Remains
While Verity’s delay is a disappointment to fans eager for the psychological suspense and drama, the film’s high-profile cast and the enduring popularity of Colleen Hoover’s storytelling ensures it remains one of the most anticipated book-to-screen releases on the horizon.
Mark your calendars for October 2, 2026—because Verity promises secrets, obsession, and a dangerous game of truth and lies.
