Mattel has officially turned Angel Reese‘s “Bayou Barbie” nickname into reality, unveiling a Barbie Signature doll modeled after the WNBA star on July 24. The doll features Reese in a pink basketball uniform with her No. 5 jersey, signature headband, leg sleeve, and Barbie-pink Reebok sneakers. It retails for $38 and is available at Target stores and online at Walmart, Amazon, and Mattel Shop.
Reese becomes just the second WNBA player to receive a Barbie doll, joining Seattle Storm legend Sue Bird. “Having my own Barbie doll is a true dream come true for me,” Reese said in a statement. “I hope this doll reminds girls to be unapologetically themselves, embrace every part of who they are, and go after their dreams with confidence”.
The launch coincides with WNBA All-Star Weekend, where a pop-up “Dream Closet” experience and limited-edition apparel collection debuted. Reebok will release matching Barbie-inspired Angel Reese 1 sneakers on August 3.
