The Adekunle Gold Olamide Formation track has been officially announced, sending waves of excitement through the Afrobeats community. The two Nigerian music powerhouses are set to release their new collaboration this Thursday, marking a significant reunion between the former label boss and his prodigy. The AG Baby, Olamide’s new song arrives nearly a decade after Adekunle Gold first joined YBNL Nation in 2015, following the success of his breakout hit “Sade”.
The relationship between these two artists runs deep. Before Adekunle Gold became a chart-topping singer, he was the graphic designer who created the iconic YBNL logo. Olamide signed him after producer Pheelz played “Sade” for the label boss, and the rest is history. Adekunle Gold has repeatedly expressed gratitude for that life-changing moment. “Thank you @olamide for giving that young graphic designer the chance to not only design the YBNL logo but to be a part of your family,” he wrote on social media. Olamide responded simply: “Fam for life”.
Since leaving YBNL after his contract expired, Adekunle Gold has released five successful albums: “Gold,” “About 30,” “Afropop,” “Catch Me If You Can,” and “Tequila Ever After”. His career reached new heights when “Falling Up” served as the closing ceremony anthem during a Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week. Meanwhile, Olamide recently hinted that his tenth album “Unruly” might be his last project .
The two artists reunited on stage in December 2025 when Olamide introduced Adekunle Gold at his historic National Theatre concert, the first ever held at the newly renovated venue . Now they’re bringing that energy to the studio. “Formation” drops this Thursday on all major streaming platforms.
