Former Super Eagles striker, Samson Siasia, has called on Augustine Eguavoen, the current interim head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, to step down from his role. Siasia argues that Eguavoen should not hold both the position of head coach and his current job as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Siasia emphasized that it is not advisable for Eguavoen to juggle both positions and recommended that he resign from coaching the Super Eagles to focus solely on his technical director duties. He further expressed his belief that the NFF should not hire a foreign coach, stating, “We don’t want any foreign coach here because they are not coming to do anything. We have enough good materials at home that we should not be talking about hiring a foreign coach.”
Siasia’s comments come amidst growing discussions about the direction of the Super Eagles, a team he believes has a lot of potential with local talent.
