Newly appointed Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed plans to draw inspiration from Enzo Maresca’s tactical approach as he takes the reins at the struggling Premier League side.
Van Nistelrooy, who replaced Steve Cooper after the Foxes fell to 16th place, acknowledged Maresca’s impressive work last season. Under Maresca, Leicester clinched the Championship title with a record-breaking 100 points before moving to the Premier League.
Speaking about his vision for the team, Van Nistelrooy said:
The way Leicester City played under Maresca, winning the Championship and going into the Premier League, I see also that line continuing in those structures and the idea of playing. I can plug into that. I relate to those structures and way of playing.
Van Nistelrooy will aim to channel Maresca’s methods to stabilize Leicester and push them up the Premier League table as the club battles to avoid further struggles.
