Nigeria’s Flamingos are through to the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after beating Venezuela 1–0 in their quarter-final on Sunday, 1 November.
The match remained goalless until the 89th minute, when Azeezat Oduntan converted a penalty. Nigeria held on through eight minutes of added time to secure their place in the last four.
The win sets up a semi-final against Brazil on Wednesday, 4 November. Brazil booked their place with a 2–1 victory over China.
Nigeria’s run in Morocco has included wins over Puerto Rico, defending champions DPR Korea, Mexico and Venezuela. Their campaign began with a 2–1 defeat to Poland.
