President Donald Trump has officially announced attorney, conservative commentator, and communications advisor Katie Zacharia as the new White House Press Secretary. The announcement fills a key administration role that had been vacant since former press secretary Karoline Leavitt stepped down at the end of August following the birth of her second child. Trump confirmed the appointment on Truth Social, describing the California native as a loyal supporter and dedicated representative of his platform.
Zacharia steps into the high-profile podium role with an extensive background spanning constitutional law, media commentary, and government public affairs. A Pepperdine Caruso School of Law graduate, she previously served as the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Public Affairs earlier in the administration before transitioning into a senior communications advisory role for the Trump Media and Technology Group. Her frequent national broadcast appearances and background as an outside counsel and political strategist played a central role in her selection.
As White House Press Secretary, Zacharia will serve as the chief spokesperson for the administration, managing daily media briefings and representing the president’s agenda to the press corps. She inherits the podium as her predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, transitions to a role with MAGA Inc. and joins Fox News as a contributor.
Supporters have widely commended Zacharia’s sharp legal mind and rapid-response capabilities. With major policy initiatives and national press briefings on the horizon, the administration’s media strategy enters a fresh chapter under her leadership.
