Matthew McConaughey is sharing a rare and deeply personal tribute to his wife of 14 years, Camila Alves, in his weekly newsletter, The Pause. The actor revealed that nearly two decades after they first met, Camila remains “the only woman I have ever wanted to date, sleep with, or wake up next to.”
McConaughey and Alves met in 2006, and the actor has often spoken about the supernatural signs that led him to her. He described having a dream that felt like a “spiritual sign” to stop searching for a partner. Shortly after, he met Alves, and he said he knew instantly that she was the one.
The couple married in June 2012 and have built a life together in Texas, raising their three children, Levi, Vida, and Livingston. In his newsletter, McConaughey credited Alves with being his anchor, “the one who helps me keep my feet on the ground while I look at the stars”. He also described her as a “rock” and said he is “forever grateful” for her.
