Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday morning on DUI charges, just hours after he made his on-field debut with the team following a one-year contract signing. The 34-year-old receiver was booked in downtown Indianapolis around 1:00 AM ET on two preliminary misdemeanor charges.

According to jail records, Allen faces two preliminary charges:

DUI/OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or more

DUI/OWI endangering another person

Both are classified as misdemeanors. Allen remained at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center following the arrest.

The Colts issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation: “We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time,” a team spokesperson told ESPN.

Allen’s arrest came less than two weeks after he signed a one-year contract with the Colts, which is valued up to $8.32 million. The six-time Pro Bowler, who spent 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and one with the Chicago Bears, reunited with Colts coach Shane Steichen, who previously coached him with the Chargers.

On Saturday afternoon, Allen made his first appearance in a Colts uniform during the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions. He had one reception for 24 yards, a play that was one of the team’s longest of the day.

This is a developing story.
