Debbie Clark, widely known to television fans as “Storm” on the hit competition series American Gladiators, has passed away at the age of 61. The former elite athlete died at her Boston home after suffering cardiac complications related to a pacemaker failure. Her son, Crayton, confirmed that she passed away in his arms while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive.
Before joining the arena, Clark was an exceptional multisport athlete who excelled in basketball, soccer, track, and Olympic handball. She joined American Gladiators in 1991, quickly becoming a standout competitor in fan-favorite events like Powerball and Joust. After producers noted that her raw power “blew them all away,” she adopted the ring name “Storm” and competed until a severe ACL injury forced her retirement in 1993.
Following her retirement from competition, Clark faced severe personal and financial hardship, including periods of homelessness. Despite these obstacles, she remained dedicated to her family and community.
