Rockstar Games has officially broken its silence regarding the recent flood of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay clips appearing online, confirming the leaks are real and calling the situation “heartbreaking” for the development team.

In a public statement released on August 26, 2026, the developer addressed the rampant leaks that have been circulating for the past week. “We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week,” the statement read. “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time”.

Rockstar also took the opportunity to apologize for the long wait for official information, noting they are “nearly there” with development and are “determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve”. The company acknowledged that the intended experience may be impacted by spoilers but urged fans to wait and experience the game themselves when it releases on November 19, 2026.

Despite Rockstar’s statement, the leaks are ongoing, with the group behind them, known as “Cyberleek,” reportedly continuing to release footage and promote a memecoin while claiming to protest the death of physical media. This has not impacted the official plans, and an extended gameplay look is still set to premiere on Netflix on August 27.
