The war of words surrounding Mohbad’s death has reached a boiling point. Omowunmi, the widow of the late singer, has unleashed a furious response to Baba Mohbad’s lawyer, Dayo Ogungbe, over what she calls defamatory words targeting her character.
In a since-viral statement, Omowunmi did not hold back. “Dayo Ogungbe, I swear to God you will hear from me,” she began. “Every defamatory word you have said, you will prove it. I promise you.”
Her message then took a darker turn, revealing new details about the night her husband died.
According to Omowunmi, within hours of Mohbad’s passing, his father allegedly began making demands. “The night my husband died, his Dad was already asking for the car key, YouTube password, phones, etc.,” she wrote.
She claims that immediately after entering the house, the father spoke directly to his son’s corpse: “Wo ibi to ba ile aye e de” – a phrase suggesting disappointment or a final judgment. She added that as a “bereaved father,” he proceeded to ask for phones to make a transfer and then walked to Mohbad’s lawyer to inquire about royalties.
“Dare him to sue me,” Omowunmi challenged. “I have my evidence.”
Omowunmi also addressed Ogungbe’s claims directly, demanding proof of multiple accusations.
“You said you have 5 of my NIN, you will prove it,” she said, clarifying that she possesses only one National Identification Number. She then dismissed Ogungbe’s professional standing: “Dayo Ogungbe or whatever your name is, you are not fit to be called a Barrister. You will not go scot free.”
The widow made it clear that she is no longer the same person critics once targeted. “To those defaming and bullying me, I have become a bone in your throat,” she declared. “Everything you said about my child will not slide.”
She issued a bold challenge: “I double dare you to bring this case back. Right now I am healed mentally and I have evidence against Baba on the Indomie thing he said and all other defamation.”
Omowunmi also referenced alleged “imolenization money” accusations, tripling down on her demand for accountability.
Omowunmi has drawn a line in the sand. She claims to possess evidence. She is daring her accusers to sue. And she insists she is mentally prepared for whatever comes next.
For Baba Mohbad’s legal team, the message is clear: either produce proof or face legal consequences. The widow is no longer grieving in silence. She is fighting back.
