The YouTube superstar turned a moment of disaster into an act of generosity. IShowSpeed, who boasts over 150 million followers across his platforms, announced that every dollar earned from his upcoming livestream in Dominica will be donated to families displaced by the recent catastrophic flooding on the island.
The pledge marks a significant pivot from entertainment to humanitarian aid, as the streamer uses his massive platform to address a real-world crisis unfolding in real-time.
The donation comes as Dominica reels from a severe trough system that slammed the island on April 26, 2026. Heavy rainfall triggered massive flooding and landslides, particularly in the East and Northeast regions. Critical infrastructure collapsed under the deluge: roads were severed, homes were swept away, and eleven schools across the island had to be closed indefinitely for safety assessments.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit convened an emergency cabinet meeting on Sunday night, activating the National Emergency Planning Organization (NEPO). Preliminary reports indicate that entire communities, including sections of the Kalinago Territory, remain cut off from vehicular access as crews work to clear debris.
IShowSpeed is currently navigating the Caribbean as part of a massive 15-country tour that kicked off on April 25. The Dominica leg was supposed to be a standard adventure for the “YouTuber,” but the disaster changed the calculus. The streamer reportedly plans to use his broadcast to spotlight the destruction while raising funds for the victims.
By donating the full revenue generated from the stream, Speed is effectively turning his audience’s engagement into direct aid for the seven households already identified by the government as displaced, with numbers expected to rise.
While celebrities often issue press releases about charity, few commit an entire revenue stream to disaster relief mid-tour. For the displaced families in Castle Bruce and Marigot living in shelters or with relatives, the funds could mean the difference between waiting and rebuilding. The gesture also highlights the growing power of live streamers, who can mobilize millions of dollars at the tap of a screen faster than traditional fundraising drives.
Speed has not yet specified the exact amount expected from the stream, but given his average viewership, it is likely to represent a significant financial injection for the island’s recovery efforts.
