In a major win for the “Livies,” Instagram has officially partnered with Olivia Rodrigo to celebrate the release of her brand-new single, “Drop Dead.” Starting today, April 17, 2026, fans can deck out their profiles with an exclusive, limited-edition pink banner that signals they are part of the You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love era.

The feature is the latest in a string of innovative social media rollouts for Rodrigo’s third studio album. To unlock the Instagram Olivia Rodrigo pink banner, users must simply add the title of her new single, “Drop Dead,” to their Instagram bio. Once the app detects the specific phrase, a shimmering pink banner appears at the top of the user’s profile, linking directly to the track on streaming services.

The single itself dropped at midnight on April 17, 2026, serving as the lead track for her upcoming album. Produced by long-time collaborator Dan Nigro and co-written with Amy Allen, the song is a “melancholic synth-pop” anthem that explores the intense, often frightening feeling of falling in love.

• The Music Video: Filmed at the Palace of Versailles, the video features high-fashion visuals that match the new “pink and pearls” aesthetic of the OR3 era.

• The Inspiration: Olivia told British Vogue that even her happy relationship couldn’t stop her from writing “sad love songs,” noting that “Drop Dead” captures the “tinge of fear” that comes with truly caring for someone.

How to Get the Feature

If you want to join the digital pink wave, follow these simple steps:

1. Edit Profile: Open your Instagram app and go to your profile.

2. Update Bio: Type “Drop Dead” (stylized exactly as the single) into your bio section.

3. Save: Hit done. A pop-up should notify you that the special banner has been activated.

4. Share: Your profile will now feature the link and the custom pink aesthetic to show your support for OR3.

The Instagram feature is just the tip of the iceberg. Rodrigo is also scheduled to host and perform as the musical guest on SNL tomorrow night, and her team has been spotted placing pink padlocks in major cities like London, Paris, and New York to mark the release. With the album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love slated for a June 12 release, the “Drop Dead” launch has officially set the tone for what is expected to be the biggest pop era of 2026.
