The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival a historic milestone on Sunday night, April 12, 2026, as Colombian superstar Karol G took the main stage. Her performance marked the first time a Latina artist has ever headlined the festival in its 27-year history, closing out a high-energy Weekend 1 in Indio, California.

Taking the stage at approximately 10:25 p.m. following a brief technical delay, the artist known as “La Bichota” delivered a masterclass in representation. The cultural significance of Latin music was the focal point of the night, as she transformed the desert into a global celebration. During an emotional address to the crowd, she noted that while she was proud to be the first, the moment felt “late,” paying tribute to the legendary Latino artists who paved the road for her historic achievement.

The set was defined by a powerful message of feminine strength, supported by a massive all-female band and the renowned Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles. The performance seamlessly blended reggaeton, merengue, and traditional mariachi sounds. Fans were treated to a 25-song setlist that included hits like “LATINA FOREVA” and “TQG,” alongside surprise appearances by Becky G and Mariah Angeliq.

This headlining slot cements the Colombian singer’s status as a global icon, following her record-breaking world tour. As the festival prepares for its second weekend, the conversation remains focused on the long-overdue inclusion of Latinx creators at the highest level of the industry. This performance was not just a concert; it was a statement of belonging and a call for future artists to “raise their flags.”
