Khloe Kardashian Reveals She Was “Conned” Into KUWTK

Nearly two decades after the Kardashian family became a household name, a surprising new detail about the show’s origin has surfaced. In a candid interview released this morning, Khloe Kardashian shared the unexpected way she was brought into the reality television world. Far from being a fame-hungry teenager, the star admitted she was initially resistant to the cameras, leading to what she now humorously calls Khloe Kardashian’s “Conned” Revelation.

During an appearance on The Morgan Stewart Show, Khloe explained that in 2007, both she and her sister Kourtney were firmly against the idea of a family reality series. The sisters were preoccupied with the daily operations of their Calabasas fashion boutique, Dash. Khloe recalled that they were acting as their own employees, handling everything from cleaning the floors to filing taxes. However, their mother, Kris Jenner, saw a strategic opportunity that the sisters couldn’t ignore.

The core of Khloe Kardashian’s “Conned” Revelation lies in how the show was marketed to the sisters. Kris Jenner reportedly convinced them to sign on by framing the production not as a reality show, but as a “commercial” for their clothing store. “How my mom conned us into doing it was, she said, ‘Think of it as a commercial for the store,'” Khloe shared during the podcast. At the time, the sisters were willing to do anything to ensure Dash became a success, and they viewed the filming as a temporary marketing tool rather than the start of a multi-billion dollar media empire.

While the show eventually evolved into a global phenomenon, Khloe remains vocal about her original intentions. She noted that neither she nor Kourtney had any desire to be on TV or achieve celebrity status at the time. This honest reflection provides a rare look at the early dynamics of the Kardashian-Jenner family, where business survival often took precedence over the pursuit of the spotlight. As the family continues their new series on Hulu, this look back at their 2007 beginnings reminds fans that the empire started with a simple plan to sell clothes in Calabasas.
