The “Munch” rapper is trading the recording studio for a legal conference room this month. Ice Spice is officially scheduled to be deposed as a defendant in an ongoing lawsuit centered on an alleged breach of contract with a high-end hair boutique. This legal development follows claims that the artist failed to fulfill the financial obligations of a major custom order, leading to a significant standoff between the Bronx native and a prominent celebrity stylist.
The legal battle began in 2025 when Thee Bella Brand, owned by stylist Gabrielle Alexis, filed a suit claiming Ice Spice reneged on a discounted $20,000 agreement. The contract allegedly covered the creation of 25 one-of-a-kind, custom-made wigs designed specifically for the rapper’s public appearances and music videos. According to court documents, the brand asserts that despite the work being completed, the rapper failed to provide payment or take delivery of the items.
Beyond the initial $20,000 cost of the hairpieces, the lawsuit has expanded to include claims of defamation and reputational harm. The plaintiff alleges that Ice Spice and her team made disparaging comments on social media that negatively impacted the brand’s business. These actions reportedly led to the temporary loss of other high-profile celebrity clients. As a result, Thee Bella Brand is now seeking over $400,000 in both compensatory and punitive damages.
Attorneys for the wig company have been vocal about the necessity of this upcoming deposition. Lead counsel Justin Mungai stated that the legal process is a vital tool for holding high-profile figures accountable to their professional agreements. While the deposition is currently slated for late April 2026, potential scheduling conflicts could move the date. As the industry watches closely, the outcome of this case could set a precedent for how influencers and artists manage independent vendor contracts in the future.
