The long-running legal feud between The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams and her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia, has reached a significant turning point. A Georgia judge officially granted Guobadia’s request to dismiss his own defamation lawsuit against Williams this week. The decision marks a temporary end to a case that has captivated fans with its personal and high-stakes allegations.

The legal conflict began in late 2024 when Guobadia filed a lawsuit seeking damages for social media posts made by Williams. The businessman claimed that a series of Instagram posts regarding erectile dysfunction (ED) were a direct attack on his reputation. While Williams maintained that the educational posts were general in nature and referenced a different former partner, Guobadia argued that the timing and context of their public split led followers to believe the health information was a specific “shakedown” of his character. This celebrity legal battle update 2026 follows nearly two years of intense litigation and public sparring.

The sudden dismissal is largely due to Guobadia’s inability to appear in a United States courtroom. Following his high-profile deportation to Nigeria in June 2025 which occurred after a series of immigration-related detentions Guobadia found it impossible to attend the scheduled trial in Atlanta. In his filing earlier this year, he cited his current immigration status as a primary barrier to continuing the litigation.

While Williams and her legal team lobbied for a “dismissal with prejudice” which would have barred Guobadia from ever refiling the case the judge opted for a dismissal “without prejudice.” This means Guobadia technically retains the right to bring the claims back to court in the future. However, the ruling came with a sharp warning: should Guobadia choose to refile, he will be responsible for all of Williams’ legal fees. For now, Williams is free from the immediate burden of the $500,000 claim, though Guobadia remains vocal about his intent to “keep fighting” from abroad.

As the smoke clears on this specific chapter, both parties continue to navigate the fallout of their 15-month marriage. Williams remains a central figure on RHOA, while Guobadia is reportedly consulting with his legal team in Nigeria to determine his next move.
