Prenell Rousseau, the 30-year-old man who was the subject of a restraining order from 2020 after repeatedly showing up at the singer’s Los Angeles home, has died after being struck by a train on Long Island.
Rousseau was hit by a westbound Long Island Rail Road train near the Westbury station at approximately 5:38 a.m. on March 25. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation found that no criminality is suspected. Law enforcement sources indicated Rousseau was jogging on or near the tracks at the time of the incident.
The 2020 stalking case began when Rousseau appeared at the home Eilish shared with her parents on seven separate occasions over May 4 and May 5. On the first visit, he rang the doorbell and asked Eilish’s father through the surveillance camera whether the singer lived there. After being told he had the wrong address, he refused to leave.
That evening, Rousseau returned. The family called private security. While waiting, Rousseau sat down on the porch, began reading a book, and engaged in a periodic monologue. He ignored repeated requests from Eilish’s father to leave. When security arrived, he reluctantly departed, only to return again later that night, lying behind a wall.
The incidents occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Rousseau did not wear a face mask during five of his visits and touched the doorbell and doorknobs with bare hands. At the time, Eilish was 18 years old. She described the encounters as frightening in court documents.
A Los Angeles judge granted Eilish a temporary restraining order in May 2020. The order was later extended for three years, requiring Rousseau to stay at least 200 yards away from the singer and her family. He was arrested for trespassing and sent back to New York.
Rousseau’s Instagram account at the time contained a drawing resembling Eilish alongside a cryptic message: “Anyway, I love u b … that is all.”
There is no indication that the 2026 train incident was related to the prior stalking case. Approximately 100 passengers were aboard the train at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported, and riders transferred to another train to complete their journey.
Representatives for Eilish have not publicly commented on Rousseau’s death. The singer has obtained multiple restraining orders against other individuals in the years since the 2020 incident.
