Backstreet’s back, alright, and this time, they’re hanging out with a pack of animated puppies. The legendary boy band has unveiled their new single, “Bottle Up,” featured prominently in the just-released trailer for Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, marking a surprising and delightful collaboration that bridges generations of fans.
The Backstreet Boys Paw Patrol movie pairing was revealed Monday morning when the minute-long trailer dropped, showcasing the heroic pups on their most prehistoric adventure yet. The percussion-heavy track kicks in about halfway through, with the group singing, “Take this moment / Bottle up this feeling,” as the puppies transition from terrified castaways to confident dino-rescuers.
“Bottle Up” represents the group’s first new song since 2019, following their DNA album, which featured hits like “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and “Chances.” While the Backstreet Boys dropped a one-off single, “Hey,” last year to accompany their ongoing Into the Millennium residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere, “Bottle Up” marks their proper return to original music. The track’s buoyant energy and “whoo hoo hoo” refrains make it an unlikely but perfect anthem for the pups’ dino-sized mission.
The film itself promises high stakes for Ryder and the gang. After their ship is caught in a mysterious storm, the Paw Patrol crash-lands on an uncharted tropical island teeming with dinosaurs. There, they meet Rex, a pup stranded for years who becomes their guide. When archrival Mayor Humdinger begins mining the island’s resources and accidentally triggers a dormant volcano, the team must pull off the biggest rescues of their careers to save everything from extinction.
The Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie boasts an impressive roster of guest voices, including Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Hudson, Paris Hilton, Terry Crews, and beloved science educator Bill Nye . The film is directed by Cal Brunker, who co-wrote the script with Bob Barlen, and is set to hit theaters on August 14.
