KATSEYE officially conquered Brazil this weekend. The global girl group made their highly anticipated Brazilian debut at Lollapalooza São Paulo on Sunday, delivering a 60-minute performance that showcased their signature precision choreography and undeniable star power.

Taking the stage at Autódromo de Interlagos, the quintet, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeong, performed without member Manon Bannerman, who stepped away from the group in February to focus on her health and well-being. Despite performing as five, the group commanded the stage with the same explosive energy that has earned them two Grammy nominations this year.

The Lollapalooza Brazil appearance marked the final stop on the group’s South American festival run, following performances in Argentina and Chile earlier in March. The sextet-turned-quintet proved their staying power by drawing thousands of fans to the Flying Fish stage, even while competing directly with headliner Tyler, The Creator on the main stage.

Their setlist spanned their growing catalog of hits, including crowd favorites “Gabriela,” “Gnarly,” “Touch,” “Internet Girl,” and “I’m Pretty,” as well as their contribution to the Monster High franchise, “Fright Song”. The performance of “Gabriela” featured a striking costume change into flowing blue flamenco-style skirts, adding a theatrical flourish to the choreography-heavy set.

Members made a concerted effort to connect with Brazilian audiences throughout the show. Daniela Avanzini, who has Latin roots, addressed the crowd in emotional Portuguese, telling fans that being in Brazil meant a great deal to her . Megan Skiendiel echoed the sentiment, declaring through a translator that the Brazilian crowd was shaping up to be one of her favorites.

Manon’s absence was felt throughout the weekend. Fans at the festival chanted her name during the group’s set, demonstrating the deep connection audiences have formed with all six members since the group’s formation through the 2023–2024 reality competition The Debut: Dream Academy . The group has continued to acknowledge their absent member during performances, with the remaining members asking crowds to send love and applause to Manon between songs.

Her hiatus, announced in February, sparked widespread discussion among fans about the pressures faced by Black women in the industry, with some supporters drawing parallels to the experiences of artists like Normani and Leigh-Anne Pinnock in previous girl groups . The group has continued their touring schedule as planned while Manon focuses on her recovery.

The Brazilian debut comes at a peak moment for KATSEYE’s commercial success. The group’s second EP, Beautiful Chaos, has spent 32 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200, while their single “Gabriela” reached a career-high No. 21 on the Hot 100 and has remained on the chart for 28 weeks . Their January release “Internet Girl” also entered the Hot 100 and reached No. 24 on the UK Official Singles Top 100.

With Lollapalooza South America now behind them, KATSEYE is set to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California this April, continuing their ascent as one of the most promising new acts in global pop .
