Netflix has officially moved to correct a glaring Stranger Things Season 5 editing error that went viral shortly after the release of Volume 2. Sharp-eyed fans had originally spotted a significant anachronism in Episode 7, where a modern-day brand made an unexpected “cameo” in the 1987-set series.
The Stranger Things Season 5 editing error involved a piece of clothing worn by Holly Wheeler. During a pivotal scene, viewers noticed a visible Under Armour logo on her shirt—a brand that wasn’t founded until 1996, nearly a decade after the show’s timeline. The digital gaffe quickly became a meme on social media, with fans comparing it to the famous “Starbucks cup” incident from Game of Thrones.

In response to the backlash and mockery, Netflix has quietly updated the episode file. The modern logo has been digitally removed, restoring the period-accurate immersion that the Duffer Brothers are known for. While the studio hasn’t released a formal statement, the “George Lucas-style” edit is now live for all subscribers. This isn’t the first time the show has faced a Stranger Things Season 5 editing error; earlier in the season, fans caught a production crew member’s reflection in a window, which was also patched within 48 hours.
