Life sure has a way of throwing surprises at us, and if there’s anyone feeling the weight of an unexpected what-if moment, it’s Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh! In a recent throwback confession, the actress revealed that she once shared a close bond with Wizkid—so close that the media couldn’t stop speculating about their relationship.
“Almost a decade ago, Wizkid and I were inseparable—like besties,” Tonto shared. “We were spotted everywhere together, and blogs like Linda Ikeji’s couldn’t stop gossiping that we were dating. Of course, I’d always come out to deny it.”
At the time, Wizkid was just entering his early 20s, and Tonto admits she was worried about how the world would perceive their closeness. “I was older, and I knew how people talked. Imagine headlines like ‘Wizkid Impregnates His Big Sister!’ The thought alone made me panic.”
But looking back now, the actress says she might have made the wrong call. “If I had known he’d become the King of Afrobeats, I would have just agreed! Wizzy used to joke about it too, saying, ‘See, I no mind if we run am.’”
Fast forward to today, and the Essence hitmaker is one of the biggest names in global music—something Tonto never saw coming. “Right now, he doesn’t even remember we once had a thing. I should have locked it down!” she joked.
