Jay-Z is taking a hard stand against what he calls an extortion attempt by high-profile attorney Tony Buzbee, who he accuses of trying to shake him down with false and unfounded allegations.
The Allegations & Jay-Z’s Response
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Buzbee sent two demand letters in November 2024, accusing Jay-Z of two separate s3xual misconduct allegations—one from a Jane Doe and another from a John Doe.
• Jane Doe’s Claim: She alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy assaulted her in 2000 when she was just 13 years old.
• John Doe’s Claim: He alleged that Jay-Z drugged and assaulted him at a Beverly Hills party in 2015, despite acknowledging that someone else administered the drugs.
Jay-Z has denied both allegations outright, calling them “false and ridiculous in every respect.” His legal team sees Buzbee’s letters as extortion, claiming the attorney demanded a settlement to avoid public scandal.
A Legal Victory for Jay-Z & Diddy
Last week, the Jane Doe case was voluntarily dismissed, marking a major win for Jay-Z and Diddy. However, Jay-Z’s latest legal filing suggests Buzbee timed the lawsuit deliberately to put pressure on him.
The rap mogul believes the case was filed just before his daughter Blue Ivy’s Hollywood premierefor Mufasa: The Lion King—a move designed to either force him into hiding or face media scrutiny. Instead, Jay-Z attended the event confidently, posing for photos with Beyoncé and Blue Ivy, though he chose not to speak to reporters.
Jay-Z’s Lawsuit Against Buzbee
In response to what he calls a “deliberate shakedown,” Jay-Z initially filed a lawsuit against Buzbee anonymously in November, later revealing himself as the plaintiff. Buzbee attempted to have the case dismissed, but Jay-Z is now fighting to keep it alive, stating:
“I view this as an existential threat to my reputation, my career, my family, and everything I’ve spent my life achieving.”
Despite the Jane Doe lawsuit being dropped, Buzbee remains defiant, telling TMZ:
“We expect that lawsuit, which is frivolous, to be dismissed.”
