Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has been dropped by his talent agency, 33&West, following his highly controversial social media outburst last week.
Talent Agency Cuts Ties
According to Variety, agent Daniel McCartney announced on Instagram that 33&West was severing ties with Kanye “effective immediately” due to his harmful and hateful remarks.
“Myself nor 33&West can stand for this,” McCartney wrote before the post expired.
Yeezy Staffer Resigns in Protest
Eric Cui, a former Chief of Staff at Yeezy (YZY), also resigned over Kanye’s remarks. In a statement, Cui said:
“I loved working at YZY because I believed in your dream. I believe in free speech… but I will use my free speech to say that violence and crimes against women and children are wrong.”
Kanye’s Controversial Statements
The backlash follows Kanye’s tweets supporting Diddy and Chris Brown, both facing allegations of sexual abuse and assault. His posts also included:
• Revoking his apology to the Jewish community for past antisemitic comments
• Declaring himself a Nazi and tweeting “I love Hitler”
• Mocking marginalized communities, including saying “slavery is a choice”
• Selling a white t-shirt featuring a swastika, labeled “HH-01” (potentially referencing “Heil Hitler”)
Industry and Public Backlash
Kanye’s actions have triggered massive criticism across the industry, with brands and partners distancing themselves from the rapper. His website was wiped, leaving only the controversial swastika t-shirt for sale at $20.
As controversy continues to mount, will Kanye face more professional fallout?
