More than half of the 2025 Grammy winners came from independent labels, according to an analysis by the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM).
Leading the charge was Sierra Ferrell, who dominated multiple categories under Rounder Records/Concord, alongside other A2IM label members such as Acony Records, Because, GroundUp, Stones Throw Records, and Thirty Tigers.
A Milestone for Independent Artists
A2IM President and CEO Dr. Richard James Burgess MBE celebrated the achievement, stating:
“We would like to congratulate the 2025 GRAMMY-winning independent A2IM label members who continue to support and release exceptional and innovative artists and challenge industry norms. We applaud your efforts and talents, and we thank you for continuing to lead the way for companies and artists who want to do it their way.”
This milestone highlights the growing influence of independent music, proving that artists outside the major label system can thrive at the highest level of recognition.
