Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has been vocal about her struggles as a single mother, and recently shared more insights into her co-parenting difficulties with her ex, Playboi Carti. During a Twitch stream on Amouranth’s channel, Iggy responded to a fan’s comment about Carti’s anticipated album release, revealing that she hasn’t had contact with him in over six months. She emphasized that she has no idea where he is or what he’s doing, especially regarding their four-year-old son, Onyx, who was born in 2020.
“I don’t speak to him, my love. We haven’t heard from that man in over like, six months,” Iggy shared. “We don’t know where he is. Have no idea, have no association. You would have to tell somebody that speaks to him, wherever he is. We don’t know or care.” Her remarks highlight the strained relationship and lack of communication with Carti.
In previous interviews, Iggy has expressed that she is essentially raising their son on her own, referring to herself as a “single mother.” She explained that co-parenting isn’t currently an option for her, adding, “I’m very much the only parent… No disrespect, but I am not co-parenting right now and that’s just the reality of it.”
Iggy also touched on her decision to end things with Carti, sharing that it was a sudden realization, and that she decided to leave after an emotional day, eventually flying to Los Angeles and never returning. Reflecting on her own traumatic experiences growing up, Iggy made it clear she didn’t want her son exposed to a similar environment. “I will never let my son see this,” she said, indicating that she wanted to protect him from toxic relationships.
Her candid comments shed light on the difficulties of co-parenting with Carti and her commitment to raising Onyx in a healthy environment.
