In a candid interview on Trending with Hip TV, Nigerian rapper OdumoduBlvck shed light on his complicated relationship with veteran artist Jaywon. While describing Jaywon as a friend, OdumoduBlvck made it clear that their friendship wouldn’t stop him from throwing jabs when necessary.
“Forget about the banter, Jaywon is my guy. I love Jaywon,” OdumoduBlvck stated. “Because you be my guy no mean say I no go diss you,” he added, speaking in pidgin.
OdumoduBlvck took a playful shot at Jaywon, mocking him for relying on his 13-year-old hit song, Odun Yi, which remains relevant every New Year due to its timeless message of hope. The rapper teased that Jaywon has “one hit he performs once a year,” referencing the song’s enduring popularity.
Jaywon, who has been humorously dubbed the “Nigerian Mariah Carey” for Odun Yi’s annual resurgence, responded to social media criticism in January 2025 with pride. He embraced the comparison, saying it’s an honor to be likened to Mariah Carey and her legendary holiday hit All I Want for Christmas Is You.
The ongoing tension between OdumoduBlvck and Jaywon began when Jaywon downplayed the rapper’s talents, describing him as “not all that.” In retaliation, OdumoduBlvck released a diss track titled Not All That, sparking a back-and-forth on social media.
Following OdumoduBlvck’s latest remarks, Jaywon took to his X account to express annoyance, stating that he doesn’t see their dynamic as “beef.” He advised the rapper to focus on his own craft, adding that Odun Yi’s relevance is here to stay.
It seems the playful rivalry between the two artists is far from over, blending mutual respect with a healthy dose of competition. Fans can only wait to see how this entertaining dynamic unfolds next.
