Nigerian singer Mr May D has shared a shocking revelation about how he missed out on a golden opportunity to work with American superstar Akon, all because he chose to be transparent with PSquare.

Speaking on the popular podcast Honest Bunch with Nedu Wazobia and others, May D opened up about his early struggles in the music industry. He revealed that PSquare initially had no plans to sign him, only offering to help him gain recognition like they did with artists such as J. Martins.

However, things took an interesting turn when Akon expressed interest in May D’s hit song Chop My Money. According to May D, Akon insisted the song’s video be shot in America, or he wouldn’t be a part of it. Determined to seize the opportunity, May D flew to the U.S., where Akon invited him for a meeting.

During the meeting, Akon asked May D if he had a deal with PSquare, to which he replied no. Akon then revealed he had several deals lined up for him and promised to fund his return ticket to America for the projects to begin.

But in a move he now regrets, May D decided to inform PSquare about Akon’s plans. Looking back, he admitted, “If I had known, I wouldn’t have said anything to PSquare.”

The singer hinted that his decision to share the information cost him the opportunity, leaving fans to speculate on what could have been a career-defining moment for him.
