Songwriter Victory Boyd is taking legal action against Travis Scott, SZA, and Future, claiming they copied her lyrics and melody for their 2023 track “Telekinesis” without permission. In a copyright infringement lawsuit filed on Wednesday, Boyd, signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, accuses the artists, along with their record labels and other involved parties, of intentionally stealing elements from her 2019 song “Like the Way It Sounds.”

The lawsuit asserts that Scott, SZA, and Future, alongside their respective labels Cactus Jack Records, Epic Records, and Sony Music Entertainment, unlawfully incorporated Boyd’s lyrics and melody into their song. Boyd also alleges that her unreleased work, which she previously shared with Kanye West, was somehow leaked and used without her consent.

Victory claims she was credited as a songwriter for “Telekinesis” but never approved the use of her work for commercial release. She is now seeking financial compensation, the destruction of all copies of the infringing material, and a full accounting of all revenue generated from the song. This lawsuit underscores the ongoing conversation about intellectual property rights in the music industry and the importance of protecting original creative works.
