SZA’s latest hit, BMF, from her highly-anticipated Lana album, has quickly captured the hearts of fans and made waves across the charts. This track is an infectious blend of smooth bossa nova beats and raw, unapologetic lyrics that explore the complicated world of romance, bad boys, and the thrill of danger. While BMF could be an ode to the notorious Black Mafia Family, there’s a deeper layer of storytelling here that taps into SZA’s love for the “bad boys” with a mysterious past—those captivating figures who mix charm, rebellion, and a bit of trouble. The song draws references to Detroit’s infamous BMF, known for their empire, but also celebrates the dangerous allure of men who “boss up” and live life on the edge. And here’s the twist: SZA initially had plans for her BFF Lizzo to feature on the track, but once the song transformed from Boy from South Detroit, Lizzo’s voice was cut from the final version. Even so, BMF is a powerful hit and is already making a splash on the Billboard charts. With its mix of smooth grooves and emotional honesty, it’s no surprise SZA’s BMF is taking over—and we’re here for it! Don’t miss out on this bold, captivating anthem that perfectly captures the raw power of SZA’s music in 2024.
