Summer Walker is all about giving flowers where they’re due, and Ciara just got a bouquet. The Atlanta songstress recently opened up about how Ciara played a pivotal role in her life during a rough patch, calling her a “big sister” and “mentor.”
The heartwarming moment unfolded on the third episode of Walker’s Over It Radio podcast on Apple Music. Ciara joined the show to talk about love, music, and their shared experiences, but it was Walker’s heartfelt gratitude that stole the spotlight.
“I just wanna shout out the big sister, big mentor that you are,” Walker said, reflecting on Ciara’s support during her 2021 public breakup with producer London On Da Track. “You truly are a girl’s girl. I was crashing out, down bad about my baby daddy… But you called and reached out. You were like, ‘Girl, no! Don’t act like that. God will take care of everything. Focus on your career and being a great mom.’”
Ciara’s advice helped Walker shift her focus from public drama to personal growth. “I’ll never forget it,” Walker added. “To keep crashing out, I had to cut it out. So, thank you.”
Ciara, ever gracious, responded with love, saying, “I appreciate that. I’m gonna be here for you.” She emphasized the importance of women uplifting one another, especially in challenging times. “We need to celebrate each other, especially now more than ever. This support is powerful.”
The duo’s bond isn’t just personal—it’s professional too. Ciara lent her voice to the closing track of Walker’s 2021 album Still Over It with the fan-favorite “Ciara’s Prayer.” They later teamed up for the empowering single “Better Thangs,” blending their talents seamlessly.
Walker’s Over It Radio podcast recently returned, aligning with the rollout of her upcoming third album, Finally Over It, which will close out her Over It series. The lead single, the ’90s-inspired Heart of a Woman, is already making waves, with a nostalgic music video featuring rapper NLE Choppa.
Meanwhile, Ciara is keeping busy too, set to co-headline London’s Mighty Hoopla festival this summer. She’ll hit the stage alongside acts like Big Freedia, Jamelia, and Kesha, proving that her star power is as radiant as ever.
These two women continue to show that sisterhood is not only powerful—it’s essential.
