The 2025 Grammy Awards are shaping up to be a monumental event for the rap world, with Kendrick Lamar and Eminem competing in several categories. However, Eminem, known as the Real Slim Shady, has already voiced his strong belief that Kendrick will dominate the night.
During a Christmas Eve appearance on SiriusXM’s Shade45, Eminem, alongside DJ Whoo Kid and Paul Rosenberg, shared his thoughts on the competition. Speaking candidly, he praised Kendrick’s work, stating, “Kendrick is gonna sweep that sh*. He’s going to, and he should.”*
Eminem also acknowledged the tough competition this year, adding, “It’s very stiff competition.”
Kendrick Lamar’s seven nominations include a rare double nod in the Best Rap Song category for his chart-topping diss track, Not Like Us, and his standout verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s Like That. Both songs dominated the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024, solidifying Lamar’s position as a powerhouse in the industry.
Meanwhile, Eminem is also a strong contender, earning nominations in the Best Rap Performancecategory for Houdini, the lead single from his album The Death of Slim Shady. The album itself has landed a spot in the Best Rap Album category.
Interestingly, Kendrick’s highly anticipated album GNX wasn’t eligible for this year’s awards due to timing but is expected to be a major contender for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
With both icons vying for top honors, the 2025 Grammy Awards promise to be a historic showdown. Fans and critics alike are eagerly waiting to see who will take home the gold on February 2, 2025.
