Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has hilariously shut down rumours about his alleged disappearance following his no-show at comedian Acapella’s Two Kings & A Guy event held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, on Sunday.
Taking the lighthearted route, 2Baba made a surprise appearance at the event and cracked a joke that sent the crowd into laughter.
“Okay, you know what’s happening—allegedly I have been missing, I have been kidnapped. As we came for Acapella’s show—this show is to generate money for the kidnappers to release [me],” he quipped, leaving the audience in stitches.
The comment was clearly a jab at the circulating social media rumours that speculated something was wrong with the Afrobeat legend. His public appearance and playful tone were enough to calm fans and confirm that he is safe, sound, and still very much in control.
Family Drama Fuels Speculations
Interestingly, this comes just days after 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, stirred the internet with a heartfelt plea to Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, whom she accused of casting a spell on her son.
In a viral video, Mrs. Idibia urged Osawaru to “release” 2Baba, claiming he might not be in his right state of mind and alleging that the lawmaker placed spiritual beads on him. The emotional appeal led fans to raise questions about the singer’s well-being, further fueling conspiracy theories.
2Baba Clears the Air
With this public appearance and humorous address, 2Baba has laid the rumours to rest, showing once again why he’s not only a music legend but also a master of grace under fire.
