Taylor Swift recently showed her appreciation to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy with a heartfelt handwritten letter, despite their differing political views. The 14-time Grammy winner sent the gesture after Portnoy publicly defended her for taking a stance in the upcoming US elections.
Delivered personally by Swift’s brother, Austin, the wax-sealed letter was addressed to “Dave!” and came on letterhead reading, “From the desk of Taylor Swift,” with a playful footer that said, “Songwriter/Feline enthusiast.”
In the letter, Swift expressed her gratitude, writing, “Dave, I’m so happy to have you at the show tonight! I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when a lot of people didn’t.” She signed off with a personal touch, adding, “I hope you have a blast tonight!! Love, Taylor,” complete with a heart.
Portnoy, a long-time Swiftie, shared the letter on social media, emphasizing that despite their political differences, he continues to admire the singer. When asked about Swift’s political stance, he said, “How somebody votes will never change my opinion of a person. I’m voting the other way but to each their own.”
Swift, who just wrapped her Eras Tour dates in Miami, is set to continue the tour in New Orleans.
